These last days have been flying by at a furious speed. It always happens this way, it feels like Jason’s time here is endless, but then before we know it, his time here comes to a rapid close.
We’ve had lots of fun as usual, with some excellent days hanging out with visiting friends cycling, eating, and drinking. They were very excited to be here and super enthusiastic. They loved the rides, the natural beauty, the charming towns, and all we chose to show them. We did some epic rides too including suffering up the Ventoux from Malaucène, then going down the Bédoin side to end with pizza and beer.
But this last weekend, we had the added bonus and pleasure of dog-sitting my new favourite friend, Muffin. Henk and Anita had to return to the Netherlands for a bit so we stayed in their charming gite to watch the delightful, elderly, Muffin. She is one of the loveliest dogs I’ve ever spent time with, though a touch stinky. All she ever wanted was to hang out near us and sleep. I found myself feeling rather blue this morning as we left to head back to Chez Paula. I’ve forgotten how much I like the comfort of the company of a dog. Not any dog, but a Labrador. I think anyone who’s had dogs has a bit of an affinity for the type they’ve had in the past, and for me, nothing is more heartwarming than a Lab. Any colour will do, but if I am honest, chocolate or black are my favourites. Here’s hoping I get another chance to look after Muffin before I leave. Seeing her happy morning wiggle and the little excited lope she does when she’s out for a walk is guaranteed to make anyone smile.
And I’ll need all the help I can get not being blue after Jason leaves. We’re down to the last days now, so we’ll make every second count while soaking up the sunshine together.
