The heat has arrived in full force with an official heat dome. Until now, the weather has been quite perfect. Even I am forced to admit that +41C might be a hair too hot. I know, I know… I rarely utter those words.
This past week has been another one that flew by in a bit of a haze with work, dinners, visiting with friends, moving back to Chez Paula, and of course, bike rides. And as the days went on, the temperature rose along with it. The week started with a delightful +33 however today we are topping out at +41. Still, I’ve cycled every day, and if you get going early enough, you can finish your ride before the peak of the heat hits. Somehow, it’s easier for me to cycle into the heat rather than start in it. So, if it’s only a fresh +28 when I start, I don’t really notice when the mercury tips over to the mid-thirties. Of course, ending such an excursion with a dip in a refreshing pool certainly makes things more agreeable, and it keeps you motivated to continue turning over the pedals no matter how hot it is.
And I am also really looking forward to tomorrow when Jason arrives. I don’t think he’s ever been here in quite so hot temperatures. We may have to curtail our outdoor activities to mornings only, but it will still be lovely. We’ll just have a few more afternoon siestas than typical until the heat dome moves on at the end of the week. It’s all fine by me; I love summer, I love heat, I love sunshine, and I especially love spending time with my favourite person in the world.
